An art installation inspired by the work of Stanisław Lem, presenting Polish Space Agency at EXPO Dubai 2021.
Golem is a sentient supercomputer. A cold, overbearing mind that without feelings and emotions is constantly processing and counting. Due to having immensely superior intelligence, its message became incomprehensible to people – seen only as a white light. Golem during the exhibition broadcasts information about the Polish space sector. Those who visit the installation will receive special transparencies through which they will be able to discover an invisible and mysterious message.

Golem is a sentient supercomputer – a cold, overbearing mind that without feelings and emotions is constantly processing and calculating. As a result of having immensely superior intelligence, his message became incomprehensible to people – seen only as a white light.
Golem emits 12 futuristic animations, which refer to the participation of Poland in complex projects in the field of use and exploration of space.
Golem has two screens that broadcast different data at the same time, take a specially prepared transparency, go to the supercomputer while holding it in front of you and explore. You can rotate and steer the transparency to different parts of the screen.
The sounds you hear are musical compositions using original signals and sounds of extraterrestrial origin obtained through radio telescopes (pulsars, magnetosphere of planets, the sun, the northern lights), and archival recordings from space missions.
More detailed information has been decoded and is placed in the other part of the room. There you can find out about Polish participation in such projects as: NASA InSight – a lander sent to Mars, the international mission of the European Space Agency Athena or the ExoMars mission, which is a joint research mission of the European Space Agency and the Russian Space Agency Roskosmos.
The eponymous Golem is the hero of the book “Golem XIV” by the Polish science-fiction writer, philosopher and futurologist Stanisław Lem.
