I am a futuristic artist, designer, and researcher who combines art, anthropology, and technology to redefine reality and create visionary scenarios and narratives that ignite imagination and inspire action. I believe that sometimes we need a story, not just history, to better understand the present and design the future.

I possess a unique ability to merge creative intuition with knowledge — seeing potential where others see limitations and giving new meaning to seemingly distant ideas. With my developed imagination and design tools, I bring ideas to life through what I call “applied science fiction”— a distinctive fusion of creativity, science, and art.

In my research, I draw inspiration from cultural diversity, local mythologies, and material testimonies of the past, which I analyze in the context of contemporary social, technological, and environmental challenges. By experimenting with technology, I give the past new directions and contexts, transforming it into a starting point for shaping the future.

Speculative design has become my key tool — it allows me to explore the connections between humanity, culture, and technology while creating narratives that foster dialogue and new reflections. I use ethnographic accents and metaphorical, visual language to clarify complex issues and inspire new perspectives.

I am from Poland but work internationally. My work inspires creators, researchers, and innovation leaders who seek new perspectives, aim to see more where others see the same, and strive to create solutions that open doors to what was previously considered impossible.

University Professor dr.hab  Marta Flisykowska

Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk:
As a professor and lecturer at the Faculty of Design, I integrate theory with practice and develop innovative approaches to design education.

Doctoral Candidate at the Polytechnic University of Valencia:
Currently pursuing my second doctorate, I focus on the intersection of art and science fiction, expanding my international and interdisciplinary perspective.

My Mission:

Inspiring people to discover new perspectives is at the heart of my work. I believe that creativity requires the courage to ask questions and the imagination to craft answers that transcend the boundaries of the known. Through my approach—“applied science fiction”—I help envision a future rooted in human values while remaining open to new possibilities.

My mission is to inspire both young enthusiasts and experienced leaders to co-create a future that meets human needs and opens new pathways for growth.

Experience and Academic Work:

As an artist and designer with extensive academic experience, I specialize in material culture, speculative design, and experimental approaches. I study and design social, technological, and cultural changes, exploring their impact on everyday life and aesthetics.

I merge social sciences and humanities with technical knowledge, focusing on the relationships between technology and material culture. My interdisciplinary approach connects theory and practice, supporting both creative and research processes.

My first doctorate on the cultural context of design enabled me to understand how technology and culture shape one another. This has allowed me to develop educational methods that prepare individuals to design responsible and innovative projects.

My teaching combines interactivity, experimentation, and critical thinking, guiding creators to uncover new perspectives and turn them into solutions tailored to contemporary challenges.

Why Collaborate with Me?

  • Interdisciplinarity: I combine art, science, and technology, creating projects that transcend traditional boundaries. I specialize in speculative (critical) design, which inspires reflection on the future and contemporary challenges.
  • Creativity and Inspiration: My goal is to ignite creativity. In workshops and presentations, I blend design fiction with interdisciplinary thinking, inspiring both students and project teams to discover innovative solutions.
  • Efficiency in the Creative Process: I understand creative processes and can work effectively with teams in the creative sector. My projects not only attract attention but also generate lasting impact, strengthening brands and their values.
  • Artistic Practice: I love experiments and the “wow” effect. Art is my passion and freedom. Give me creative freedom, and the artistic installation we create together will surprise you with its freshness, novelty, and lasting impact.
  • Social Responsibility: My projects emphasize ethics and societal impact. I create art that not only comments on contemporary challenges but also inspires active efforts toward a better future.

Selected Achievements

  • In Rust We Trust – Martian Ceramics – An experimental project and the world’s first registered example of producing ceramics from Martian regolith simulant MGS-1. The project was presented at an international conference and exhibition in Madrid and was documented in a publication, confirming its innovation and significance.
  • Do You Feel Connected? – An installation representing Poland at the Gwangju Design Biennale in South Korea and the Athens Digital Arts Festival. Inspired by the works of Stanisław Lem, the project was realized with the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (IAM), the SKALP Robotics Association, and Infuture.Foresight Institute, exploring the relationships between technology and social values.
  • ROVER OBSTACLE COURSE – SMALL-SCALE MARS BASE – A project for the European Space Agency (ESA), created as part of the international “Pwn The Rover” competition. A detailed Mars base simulation for 2075 was constructed, creating an exceptionally realistic simulation environment.
  • GOLEM – A project created for the Polish Space Agency and presented at EXPO 2020 in Dubai. The installation combined art, technology, and philosophy, exploring the future of technology in the context of Stanisław Lem’s works.
  • FOSSIBILITIES – Paleontology of the Future – An interdisciplinary project that combined speculative design, art, and science, gaining international recognition and winning the prestigious Silver Prize Award in the Design Educates Awards. The project was carried out with the support of Universitat Politècnica de València, Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche, and Goethe-Institut, through a scholarship awarded by Goethe-Institut.

Let’s do it together!

I invite you to explore my portfolio and discover the opportunities for collaboration! You’ll find projects that uniquely combine art, science, and technology. These interdisciplinary and innovative projects, recognized globally, are the result of my passion for experimentation and discovering new possibilities.
