and dr hab Marta Flisykowska
BOWIL|BIOTECH
The pioneer biotechnological company manufacturing biocellulose in compliance with GMP pharmaceutical standards. Throughout years of research they have developed advanced way of biocellulose production on industrial scale. Their unique method of production is based on the use of highly efficient bacterial strain Gluconacetobacter xylinus E25. Currently the technology used in industrial scale of BC production is based on innovative know-how and 7 unique patents, and is conducted in our laboratories.

The exhibition is the effect of cooperation the Experimental Design Studio from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and an innovative biotechnological company from Pomerania – BOWIL Biotech, which manufactures bionanocellulose.

Design Lab is an exhibition, it tells what the material itself is and as well as what are its possible uses both in the near and far future. Starting with futuristic visions up to those plausible and available any day now.

All designs were consulted scientifically.

What is bionanocellulose? It is a non-toxic, natural biomaterial with perfect properties such as: biocompatibility, porosity, ultra-cleanness, as well as plasticity in terms of modifications.

Due to its unique properties bionanocellulose is used in medicine, biotechnology, pharmaceutical science, dentistry, cosmetic products, food industry, and many other fields.

BOWIL Biotech possesses own laboratories, handles focused researches, and willingly participates in science-research projects concerning the use of bacterial cellulose in terms of medicine, bioimplants, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery.

The project was led by professor Sławomir Fijałkowski and doctor Marta Flisykowska

The prototypes are made from 100% natural biopolymer, constructed from ultra-light nanocellulose fibers with their diameters not larger than 100 nm.

Exhibition models made in 3D polyjet and FDM print technology
